DAY 12

Seek His Word, His Wisdom and His Kingdom

One of the primary ways that we seek the Lord is by reading His Word and meditating on its truth, Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.’ Joshua 1:8. As we do so, we will experience new levels of freedom as we come to know more of God’s nature and character – and discover more of who we are in Him. We also see from the Word that it delights the heart of God when we pray for His wisdom, ‘…indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.’ Proverbs 2:3-6. When we pray for wisdom, we have a guaranteed answer to prayer, as He promises to give it to us, ‘If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.’ James 1:5. So, let’s commit to seeking God’s wisdom in all of the decisions and choices that are set before us, knowing that He is a good God who will always have our best interests at heart. In the context of not being worried or anxious about our lives, Jesus said, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33. Let’s build our lives on the firm foundation of God’s Word, His wisdom and His kingdom, being confident that He will take care of our needs.

Prayer points

  • As you read the Bible, ask that the Holy Spirit would speak to you from the Word, and that you would find wisdom as you meditate on it and as you walk with the Lord throughout your day.

  • Pray for all those involved in the pastoral care of our church; for our Area Pastors, Group Pastors, LifeGroup leaders and ministry team. Pray that they would be marked with wisdom and grace as they care for our church family.

  • Pray that the kingdom of God would be prevalent, as we put Him first in our lives. Help us to honour His word and to walk in His wisdom, as we live out our faith within our communities.
