DAY 8

DAY 8: The Priority and Privilege of Seeking the Lord

As we saw last week, God is a good God who loves to answer our prayers. However, there is more to prayer than just asking! So, in this second week we are making the turn and moving from ‘asking’ to ‘seeking’. Above everything else, the Lord longs for us to develop a close relationship with Him, simply worshiping Him in Spirit and in truth. So, today we’re looking at the importance of SEEKING the Lord for WHO HE IS more than WHAT HE CAN DO. Let’s remind ourselves of our key scripture,“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10. Let’s make it our mission to know God more, by seeking Him diligently. “Seek and keep on seeking, and you will find…and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds.” Luke 11:9-10 (AMP). This takes discipline as well as devotion, but the prize is more than worth it. A great biblical example showing the priority and privilege of seeking the Lord is when King David said, ‘You God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you…’ Psalm 63v:1. Then, notice the privilege of ‘finding’ the Lord, ‘I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.’ Psalm 63:2-3. Just like King David, who sought the Lord and was rewarded, so can we! Take some extra time today to set aside in prayer and worship, beholding the Lord’s power and glory. Make seeking Him a priority today and write down what you sense He is saying to you, in response.

QUOTABLE QUOTE

The most common mistake Christians make in worship today is seeking an experience rather than seeking God.

Prayer points

  • Surrender your heart and mind to the Lord and let Him lead you into His presence. Ask the Lord to enlarge your capacity to seek Him; to increase your hunger for Him; and to enlarge your perseverance and persistence to worship Him with your whole being.

  • Thank God for all those who are responsible for helping to create an atmosphere where, together, we can seek the Lord, including our worship and production teams. Bless them to seek the Lord in unity like never before. Bless them with stubborn determination to pursue the Lord and where He is leading. Pray that they would continue to craft journeys of worship where we can all travel together as one and behold our glorious King.

  • Pray for there to be a rumbling of continual hunger and desperation in the worldwide Church, to seek and know the Lord more and more. Pray that the Lord Himself, would be front and centre of the Church, and His will, His word, and His way would be honoured by His followers.

don't forget to pray for your vips!
